Mpls. Downtown Businesses Worry About Proposed Casino | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Downtown business owners want to make sure a proposed casino doesn't create an unfair market. The Warehouse District Business Council says the casino could put in four restaurants and bars with electronic gambling. The Council says that would not be a level playing field, because other bars and restaurants in downtown would not be able to offer customers the same thing. Casino developers say the project would bring 25-hundred new jobs to downtown, which could actually bolster neighborhood businesses. The Council agrees those workers would be great for the downtown economy, but still the Council says the only way to make the market fair is to change gambling laws and allow all businesses to have electronic gaming, or require the casino, if it goes in on Block E, to not have electronic gaming in its restaurants and bars.
